Bodegas El Grifo<\/h2>\n

Welcome to the oldest winery in the Canary Islands<\/strong> and one of the oldest in Spain! The El Grifo wineries<\/strong> can boast of having taken advantage of the land covered by lava and volcanic sand<\/strong> after the eruption that took place between 1730 and 1736 <\/strong>on the island of Lanzarote <\/strong>to give rise to an estate full of vineyards and fruit trees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the<\/strong> covered winepress dates back to 1775<\/strong> and, since then, fire<\/strong>, wind <\/strong>and rock<\/strong>, together with the know-how of the families who have passed through its facilities, have led to wines with a marked character and personality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The El Grifo wineries have nineteenth-century vines<\/strong> that mature on the hillside and are harvested by hand one by one. In addition, the winery houses a museum <\/strong>where you can discover the history of wine on the island<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Visit and tasting<\/h2>\n

If you want to live a complete wine tourism experience in San Bartolom\u00e9 de Tirajana<\/strong>, we will meet at the entrance of the El Grifo wineries<\/strong> at the indicated time. Once we are all there, we will begin to investigate the secrets of the volcanic wines that are so successful worldwide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To do this, we will visit the winery’s library and archive<\/strong>, where more than 5000 volumes<\/strong> are preserved that show the details of island viticulture. You’ll see that it has nothing to do with other forms of cultivation!<\/p>\n

Afterwards, we will walk among the chabocos<\/strong>, holes in the volcanic sand<\/strong> and protected by stone walls <\/strong>that protect the vines planted in the nineteenth century<\/strong> from inclement weather.<\/p>\n

To complete the route through the winery, we will see the subsequent path that the grapes take from their harvest to become wine. It’s very interesting! The finishing touch to the tour will be with a tasting of 3 or 6 varieties of wine<\/strong>, depending on your choice.<\/p>\n
