Itinerary
Are you ready for a cultural trip? We will meet at the time of your choice at the A Casa José Saramago museum, located in the municipality of Tías, in Lanzarote.
During the guided tour we will visit the different rooms of this home in which the Portuguese author spent most of his last 18 years of life. “A house made of books”, is how the writer himself defined it. Let’s find out!
We will pass through the studio where we will see photographs of relatives, authors admired by the novelist and the Nobel Prize for Literature itself. We will also cross the bedroom, where the writer died in 2010, the living room, the kitchen or the garden. The views of the sea and the volcanic terrain will make you fall in love! It is not surprising that the author enjoyed his time off reading in this garden.
We will also comment on some of the works that decorate the walls. Creations by César Manrique, Pepe Dámaso, Manolo Millares, Gao Xingjian, Oscar Niemeyer and Antoni Tàpies, among many others, will be present.
And, without a doubt, one of the most special moments will be the visit to the library, where Saramago wrote his last two novels: The Journey of the Elephant and Cain. The atmosphere is magical!
We will end the tour after an hour of visit to the house of this famous writer.
