The Islet of La Fermina is located just in front of the bay of Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. To get there, you must access on foot through a walkway located in the Islas Canarias park, in Arrecife.

History of the Islet of La Fermina

The Islet of La Fermina takes its name from Fermina García Santana, a pioneer shipowner in the construction of ships who in 1918 obtained an administrative concession to set up a shipyard on what was then called Islote del Quebrado. In the 70s, the Canarian artist César Manrique transformed this land of more than 14,000 square meters into an oasis of recreation.

The Islote de la Fermina is a perfect place to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of Lanzarote.

You can stroll through its wide white spaces, enjoy the views of the bay and the port of Arrecife, or simply relax in its cafeteria with huge windows that offer a varied menu of sandwiches and drinks.

In addition, the centre has a 3,600 square metre swimming pool, still pending opening, and multipurpose rooms.

Restrictions to visit the Islote de la Fermina

It is important to note that the Islote de la Fermina cannot be accessed with pets, bicycles, scooters or vehicles. It is expected that in the future the complex will also house a Reef Bay Interpretation Centre and a UN Climate Change Observatory.

Schedules and Rates

The Islet of La Fermina is open every day of the week. Admission is free and visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
