History of the César Manrique House Museum

The César Manrique House Museum was built in 1968, when the artist decided to return to Lanzarote after living in New York for several years. Manrique designed the house with the aim of creating a space that would integrate with the volcanic landscape of the island. In 1988, Manrique moved to a new house in Haría and Tahíche’s house became the headquarters of the César Manrique Foundation, an organization dedicated to the promotion of art and the protection of the environment.
