There are places that seem designed to stay in the memory… and in your photo gallery. The The Canary Islands, with their diverse landscapes, their changing light and that mix of wild and welcoming, are a magnet for those who travel with their camera or mobile phone always ready.
And it’s not just about collecting likes. Many of these images can end up being part of our spaces, framed or turned into gifts: Print your favorite photos and keep them traveling with you long after you’ve returned home.
Here is a personal selection of the 10 most Instagrammed corners of the Canary Islands archipelago. If you already know them, you surely have one of these postcards on your reel. If you haven’t been yet, you might start looking for flights when you see them.
1. Mount Teide and its sea of clouds (Tenerife)
There is no presentation that does justice to Teide. Climbing to the highest peak in Spain is like looking out onto another planet. If you do it at sunrise or sunset, the sky gives you a spectacle that does not need retouching. Just breathe, look… and shoot.
2. Charco de los Clicos (Lanzarote)
Also called Charco Verde, this small lake by the ocean looks hand-painted. Intense green, volcanic rocks and the blue of the Atlantic. No matter how many times you’ve seen it on social media, in person it impresses even more.
3. Roque Nublo (Gran Canaria)
A hike among pine trees and petrified lava takes you to this stone colossus. From there, Gran Canaria opens up before your eyes. The most searched photo is with the Teide floating on the horizon above a sea of clouds.
4. Jameos del Agua (Lanzarote)
Work by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique, this space is a perfect example of how architecture can be integrated with nature. Manrique dedicated his life to protecting the identity of Lanzarote, betting on a development that respects the volcanic landscape of the island. In the Jameos, that vision comes to life as it is a volcanic cave turned into art, with interior lagoons, white staircases, lush vegetation and silence. Every corner invites you to stop… and to photograph.
5. Natural pools of Garachico (Tenerife)
Garachico it is history, but it is also lava and sea. The Natural pools left by an ancient eruption are today one of the most photogenic sites on the island. Irresistible with good light and calm tide.
6. Maspalomas Dunes (Gran Canaria)
A desert by the ocean, just like that. At dawn or dusk, the shadows create figures that seem to move on their own, a place that changes daily, but never disappoints.
7. Benijo Beach (Tenerife)
Wild and beautiful, the rocks that emerge from the water, the waves that break relentlessly and the skies that are dyed red make every sunset in Benijo seem like the last.
8. Caldera de Taburiente (La Palma)
This park offers one of the most imposing landscapes in the archipelago. From the viewpoints, Green, abyss and sky are mixed in compositions that just need you not to forget your camera.
9. Cofete Beach (Fuerteventura)
Getting there is not easy, but precisely for that reason it remains a half-secret, an infinite, wild, uninhabited beach. Just you, the wind and the horizon.
10. Mirador del Río (Lanzarote)
Another genius of Manrique. From this point, La Graciosa looks like a floating postcard over the sea. The contrast between land and water is hypnotic and gives rise to many photos.
The Canary Islands are much more than a good setting. They are that feeling of freedom, of constant discovery. And if you manage to capture some of that in one image, don’t let it get lost among a thousand digital files. Print out your photos and tap it again, look at it again, and feel it again.
